REASON FOR LOSS:
Took-off at 16:59hrs North Killingholme. Badley shot about while in the target area by a night-fighter, whose devastating fire mortally wounded both air gunners. In the confusion, F/O Warren thought he hear the command to bail out, and he promptly made his exit. Subsequently, the Lancaster landed at Woodbridge airfield in Suffolk, damage beyond repair.
